Visa

The visa of Egypt is simply a stamp (like a mail or postage stamp) that you buy from the visa office, at the airport of entry just before the immigration booth; you can’t really miss it! The visa will cost you around 15-30$ (price depends of your home country and single or multi type) and after buying it you just stick in any empty page on your passport. Once you have bought your visa you then stand in line to get your passport stamped by the immigration officer. Duration of tourist visa is 90 days. More detailed info.

Flight to Sharm el Sheikh (nearest airport, 85 km from Dahab)

There are many direct flights from Europe to Sharm el Sheikh. You can buy in any travel agency or book cheap flight on line.
The other possibility is to fly to Cairo or Hurghada (Egypt) or Eilat (Israel), and from there you can easily reach Dahab by air, bus or boat.

Bus

There are 5 buses daily from Cairo to Dahab run by East Delta Travel and leave from Abbassyia Station. You can reach the Abbassyia Station from the airport or city center by taxi (25-30 EGP) or public bus (0.5 EGP).
Air-conditioned buses to Dahab leave at 8:30, 13:00, 17:00, 19:00 and 23:00 h. for 55-75 EGP. The journey takes 9 hours. The bus will drop you off in Dahab City where you can catch a taxi to Dahab-Masbet or your hotel for 5 EGP.

Egypt Airlines operates several flights daily between Cairo and Sharm el Sheikh for 300-400 EGP one way. You can book flight on-line.

There is one bus daily from Luxor via Hurghada, Suez and Sharm directly to Dahab. It takes 12 hours for about 100 EGP. Leaving from Luxor around 7:00 PM, from Hurghada 10:00 PM to be in Dahab next day around 9:00 AM. Departure back from Dahab to Luxor is at 4:00 PM.

Boat-ferry

There are nowadays speed ferry leaving Hurghada in the morning, coming back from Sharm in the evening. It takes 1,5 hour and ticket costs 40-45 USD. The time schedule is changing according to season. Quite offten ferry is cancelled due to bad weather or broken engine.

There one or two flight daily between Sharm and Hurghada. It takes only 25 minutes.

Eilat (Israel) – Taba – Dahab

From the Eilat airport to the border there is a public bus for 6 NIS, taxi 25 NIS. The border to Taba needs to be crossed by foot. An exit fee of 65 NIS (22 USD) needs to be paid at the Israeli border. On the Egyption Immigration Office you can get visa for Sinai (not for all Egypt). Taba`s bus station is about 500 m from the border. You can wait for a public bus to Dahab (25-30 EGP) or you can share a taxi for a total price 180-200 EGP or minibus for 300-350 EGP. Leaving Taba you have to pay some Egyptian entry fee 25 EGP.
